Author: Arrigo Knowles

Fishing means a lot of things to different people. Fishing is an activity that requires a great deal of skill and dedication. Others see it as a form of recreation, as well as a way to unwind, rest, and relax. Still others fish because they can get a free meal or ten out of the deal. No matter the meaning, if you want to start fishing, then continue reading.
Carefully wade through the water. Take slow, careful steps if you're wading through a river. If you make a lot of noise, you'll scare the fish because sound does travel under water. Disturb the riverbed as little as possible.
Wet your hands down before handling fish. This will keep your hands from stripping the fish of its natural oils. If you need to release your catch into the water, this is even more true.
Many fishers use bobbers with little lights inside to help their night fishing. Bobbers that are lighted contain small bulbs that help you see when fish bite. The bobber goes up and down when the fish begins to nibble at the bait.
You can make your earthworms even more appetizing to a fish by allowing them to plump up. Use a flat container lined with newspaper to store the worms, and place it in the refrigerator overnight. The cold temperature and additional humidity assists in fattening up the worms.
If you want to catch larger fish, consider fishing with larger bait. Larger bait is generally more expensive, but it could be worth the cost for a big fish at the end of your line. This makes a lot of sense because bigger fish would normally eat larger things in the water, making them interested in bigger baits.
Always pack extra supplies of food and water, especially on hot days. The sun could make you tired, and it is important to have enough energy and stay hydrated, if you want to catch those fish. Carry several meals and snacks based on the duration of your trip.
Although the primary focus in fishing is catching fish, you must maintain an awareness of and a respect for the creatures and their environment. Fish and wildlife have the same right to the environment that human beings have. Do what you have to in order to avoid destroying it.
Maintaining your boat battery properly ensures you will be ready to take off on a fishing excursion as soon as the weather breaks. It is best to just remove the battery completely and store it in your garage or basement during the off-season. Don't place it right on the concrete floor as the intense cold can shorten the battery's life.
Keep your eyes out for surface fish to find the bigger fish below in deep waters. You might see wood or other materials floating in the water. More often than not, this is a tell tale sign that there is fish in the area. Seagulls feasting on smaller fish is also a sign that larger fish are looming nearby.
As you have now learned, anyone educated enough can pick up fishing as a good hobby they can enjoy. Using this advice, you can become a fishing pro quickly and catch much more fish on your next trip.
